8 Surprising Allegations Angelina Jolie Has Made Against Brad Pitt
For a time, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were one of the biggest power couples in Hollywood. Their romance was thrust into the spotlight when they were seen getting cozy, only for Brad to announce his divorce from Jennifer Aniston shortly later. To this day, rumors continue to suggest the two had an affair. But they remained together for nearly two decades and had six children.
The couple eventually tied the knot in 2014, but Angelina shocked fans when she filed for divorce only two years later. Their divorce was finalized in 2019, but the exes continue to make headlines for their ongoing conflict – which includes lawsuits and custody battles. Both Brad and Angelina have made various accusations against the other. Here are some of the most surprising things Angelina has accused her ex-husband of.
Angelina Says Brad Physically Abused Her
The public was shocked in July 2016 when it was reported Brad and Angelina had gotten into an altercation on a private jet in front of their children. At the time, few details were known about the incident, though Angelina filed for divorce shortly after.
But in October 2022, a court filing made by Angelina revealed more information, including allegations that Brad got physical with her. « Pitt’s aggressive behaviour started even before the family got to the airport, with Pitt having a confrontation with one of the children. After the flight took off, Jolie approached Pitt and asked him what was wrong, » the filing says. « Pitt accused her of being too deferential to the children and verbally attacked her. »
It continues, “He pulled her into the bathroom and began yelling at her. Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall. »
And Got Physical With Their Kids, Too
The same filing alleges that Brad put his hands on their children during the same incident. « Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him,” it claims. “To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane’s seats injuring Jolie’s back and elbow.”
The filing continues, « The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. »
She Says He Also Threw Drinks At Them
Angelina doesn’t only allege that Brad got physically abusive with her and their kids during the plane incident, but that he also humiliated them by dousing them in red wine and beer.
Angelina Says He’s Lying About Their Winery
Brad is suing Angelina for selling her stake in their former winery, Chateau Miraval, despite trying to stop the transaction. Brad says that selling her stake to Russian businessman, Yuri Shefler, was a direct attempt at hurting his reputation and that it was an unlawful transaction.
However, Angelina has denied his claims. Her former company Nouvel LLC (which still has a stake in the vineyard) says it’s his attempt at waging a “vindictive war” against Angelina.
And That He Refused To Buy It From Her
Angelina also reportedly she tried to sell her stake in the winery to Brad before ultimately selling it to the Russian oligarch.
“After making multiple offers to her ex-husband, and knowing the business will be inherited by their children, she found a business partner with experience in the alcohol industry,” a source said.
Brad’s Alcoholism Affected The Family
In an email about her decision to sell her stake in the winery, Angelina referenced the impact Brad’s alcoholism had on their family. “It is the place we brought the twins home to, and where we were married over a plaque in my mother’s memory,” she wrote. “Even now impossible to write this without crying. I will treasure my memories of what it was a decade ago. But it is also the place that marks the beginning of the end of our family – and a business that is centered around alcohol.”
Brad has also admitted that his alcoholism led to the dissolution of his marriage.
She Thinks The FBI Should Have Arrested Him
The FBI launched an investigation into Brad following the 2016 plane incident, but they ultimately pressed no charges. However, Angelina apparently disagrees with their conclusion. In August 2022, she filed a lawsuit against the FBI demanding the release of information to understand why they failed to arrest him.
And That Brad is An Unfit Parent
Brad and Angelina have been fighting about custody since they separated. He’s accused her of trying to keep the kids from him, while reports say Angelina is worried about his parenting.
The actress wanted their kids to testify in court in 2021, saying it was crucial for their “critical” and “relevant to the children’s health, safety and welfare.” Ultimately, Brad won joint custody.
Despite the conflict, sources say that Brad is hopeful he and Angelina can become amicable co-parents one day. “Brad hopes that one day he and Angelina find a way to forgive each other and move forward, for the kids’ sakes if nothing else,” a source said. “He hates all the bad blood.”
