Ant-Man 3 Casts The Good Place Actor William Jackson Harper

The Good Place’s William Jackson Harper has joined the all-star cast of Marvel’s forthcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania in an undisclosed role. Intended to be the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 film slate, Quantumania will find Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne exploring the minuscule dimension known as the Quantum Realm, and coming face-to-face with Kang the Conqueror in the process. Rudd and Lilly will also be joined by Kathryn Newton as Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang, who also acquires a suit with similar abilities to her father’s.

Currently slated for release in February 2023, Marvel recently kicked off their marketing efforts for the film by releasing the first official trailer earlier this week. Showcasing footage of Lang and the rest of the Ant-Man crew in the Quantum Realm, the trailer also provided fans with their first good look at Jonathan Majors’ time-traveling adversary Kang, who is expected to play a major role leading into the events of the forthcoming Avengers films The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. While Majors previously played a variant of the character, He Who Remains, in the Loki series, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Kang is expected to be a far more intimidating iteration of the character.

Now it would seem that Ant-Man fans have more surprises in store for them, with Variety reporting that Harper will also be joining the cast of the upcoming threequel. Harper, who is known for playing Chidi Anagonye in the NBC comedy series The Good Place, is reportedly attached to a secret role within the MCU outing. Marvel Studios have declined to comment on his casting.

A talented actor whose turn on The Good Place earned him an Emmy Award nomination, Harper’s addition to the Quantumania cast marks the expansion of an already star-studded line-up. In addition to Rudd and Lilly in the leading roles, the third Ant-Man outing will also see the returns of screen veterans Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. Actor and comedian Bill Murray, who has recently fallen prey to controversy, is also set to appear as an unnamed villain who has prior experience with Pfeiffer’s character within the Quantum Realm.

Sadly, however, previous Ant-Man favorites Michael Peña and David Dastmalchian will not be returning as Scott Lang’s friends and collaborators Luis and Kurt. Nonetheless, the cast roster for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania remains an intriguing line-up of extraordinarily talented performers who are sure to make the next Ant-Man outing a memorable addition to the franchise. In the past, the MCU sub-franchise has been viewed as one of the smaller offerings within the broader universe; however, with the additions of those like Majors and Murray, and now Harper, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania becomes an even more intriguing MCU entry. It will be very interesting to see how all of these exciting performers come together in the new film.
