FX Orders ‘The Bends’ Pilot From Paul Attanasio Based On Gerald Seymour’s Novel ‘Killing Ground’

FX has given a pilot green light to The Bends, a drama from Homicide creator Paul Attanasio and Fargo and Dopesick executive producer Warren Littlefield.
Written by Attanasio based on the novel Killing Ground by Gerald Seymour, the thriller series follows a seemingly perfect American family in Berlin whose secrets come to light when they hire a new nanny, unaware that she is trying to expose the parents’ corrupt financial and familial ties.
Mike Barker (Hit & Run) will direct the pilot, which will be produced by 20th Television and The Littlefield Company and stems from The Littlefield Co.’s overall deal with 20th TV and ABC Signature.
Attanasio executive produces alongside Barker as well as Warren Littlefield, Ann Johnson, Graham Littlefield and Lisa Harrison of The Littlefield Company, and Kathy Ciric.
In addition to creating Homicide: Life on The Street, which ran on NBC for seven seasons from 1993 to 1999, Attanasio created ABC’s medical drama Gideon’s Crossing, and CBS’ longrunning legal drama Bull. He is repped by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
Littlefield, who also executive produces Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, is repped by WME, TFC Management, and Tom Hoberman. Barker, who has worked with Littlefield on The Handmaid’s Tale and Fargo, is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Ciric is repped by CAA.
