How Madonna And Cardi B Settled Their Feud

Recently, Cardi B and Madonna went trending after a social media spat. The Queen of Pop and the Hot Sh** rapper have now made up and even expressed how much they admire each other. But what sparked the feud in the first place? Here’s a closer look at their relationship.

When Did Cardi B & Madonna First Meet?

Cardi B first met Madonna during the latter’s Oscars party in 2018. « I met my real life IDOL @madonna, » the former wrote alongside a photo of her with the Material Girl hitmaker. « I can’t even believe I performed at her event and it was the most meaningful performance ever. » She added that Madonna has been an inspiration to her since she was a kid.

« I grew up with my mom listening to Madonna for hours, » Cardi continued. « I performed Material Girl freshman year in High school, listen to her on all my photo shoots to have super confidence and always mentioned her in my interviews. »

Talking about their encounter, the WAP singer said she was « happy » to find out that Madonna was everything she thought she’d be. « The best part about it is she was everything i thought she would be a Liberal Kick ass feminist bitch, » she wrote in the caption. « I’m soo happy. »

Madonna also posted a photo from that time. In the shot were her, Cardi and her husband Offset, and Migos member Quavo. « Love this girl so much!! ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you @iamcardib for shining your light at the party last night! 🔥🔥🔥 » the singer wrote in the caption.

Why Were Cardi B & Madonna Feuding?

Recently, Cardi posted a since-deleted tweet criticizing Madonna for her choice of words on an Instagram Story celebrating the 30-year anniversary of her 1992 Sex Book. Here’s what the Vogue singer said: « I spent the next few years being interviewed by narrow minded people who tried to shame me for empowering myself as a Woman. I was called a ******, a witch a heretic and the devil. »

She concluded the post with a clown emoji, which particularly triggered Cardi. « Now Cardi B can sing about her WAP, » she continued. « Kim Kardashian can grace the cover of any magazine with her naked ass and Miley Cyrus can come in like a wrecking ball. You’re welcome. »

Playboy’s current Creative Director in Residence responded on Twitter, saying that she « literally [paid] this woman homage so many times cause I grew up listening to her, » and that she felt Madonna could « make her point without putting clown emojis and getting slick out the mouth. »

How Did Cardi B & Madonna Settle Their Feud?

Not long after the exchange, Cardi tweeted: « I talked to Madonna …It was beautiful….Have a great day and drive safely yallll. » Madonna echoed the sentiments, writing: « love you [Cardi B]!! Always have and always will. » The two appear to be on good terms now. It’s kind of like Madonna’s rumored rival with Lady Gaga in the past. Despite the many comparisons between them, the former later denied the beef, saying, « We were never enemies. »

Madonna is known for feuding with other female musicians and later becoming friends with them. Another good example is her complicated relationship with Cher. The Moonstruck star once described the controversial singer as « rude » and « mean. » Speaking about Madonna’s popularity, Cher said: « I think she’s unbelievably creative. ‘Cause she’s not unbelievably talented, she’s not beautiful. But she’s kind of rude. »

On another occasion, she said of Madonna: « I think she’s a major major star. She’s not really a great, great singer. She’s not really a great, great actress, but she’s one of the biggest stars in the world. So that’s special art—to be able to turn whatever you have into—it’s like spinning straw into gold. »

They seemingly squashed the feuding rumors in 2017 when they were photographed together, joining forces at the Women’s March in Washington. Though Cher later posted a shady tweet saying she « got a colonic » on Madonna’s birthday, she clarified on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: « I’m totally good with Madonna. Madge and I have gone through our thing, but I’m totally good with her. But come on, it [tweet] was funny. »
