LOTR: Return To Moria Debuts Screenshots Of The Iconic Locale

Brand-new screenshots from The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria reveal the dwarf survival game’s interpretation of the titular underground kingdom. Set during the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, the crafting-survival game will see brave dwarves fight to reclaim the halls of Khazad-dûm following Gandalf’s defeat of the dreaded Balrog. Epic Games announced LOTR: Return to Moria earlier this year, and now fans have been given a closer look at the ancient Tolkien location.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will give fans a unique look into Middle-earth’s Fourth Age following the destruction of the One Ring and the final defeat of Sauron. With the evil Balrog also destroyed, players will delve deep into the halls of Moria to take back the dwarven kingdom from hordes of scattered monsters. The survival-crafting game can be played alone or in a group of up to eight players in co-op multiplayer. Procedurally-generated dungeons will make each expedition unique, and rekindling Moria’s forges will let players craft new gear to enhance future battles. LOTR: Return to Moria explores Middle-earth from a truly unique angle, and in-game screenshots now shed light on the dark caverns of Khazad-dûm.
Exciting new screenshots from The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria were recently revealed by developer Free Range Games during a livestream by YouTube channel Nerd of the Rings. These in-game images show off the survival game’s unique interpretation of Moria, which honors both the ancient kingdom’s grandeur and its nearly apocalyptic corrosion by dark forces. The vast underground world will include landmarks like running water and crumbling statues, reflecting the land’s decay throughout the Third Age. The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria screenshots also show off early-game gear, like a pickaxe and torch, alongside a terrifying Cave Troll enemy and sneaky Orcs.
While The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will let players explore the dwarven kingdom in the Fourth Age, a Rings of Power Meta Quest VR experience lets fans visit the underground world at the height of its power. Like the epic Middle-earth series on Amazon Prime, the virtual reality project portrays Moria in the Second Age during the reign of King Durin III. The immersive experience, which is only available for a limited time, portrays the bridges and caverns of Khazad-dûm in all their glory before the Balrog destroyed the entire realm.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria promises to put a unique spin on the typical Middle-earth gaming experience. Rather than an action game or in-depth RPG, the title will instead use survival and crafting mechanics to portray Moria’s once-glorious ruins and the dwarves’ attempt to reclaim their home. Based on beautiful new in-game screenshots, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria promises to let Tolkien fans explore a creepy and appropriately grand version of Khazad-dûm.
