New Look At Mandalorian Season 3 Teases Bo-Katan Showdown

The Mandalorian season 3 is teasing a significant showdown between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze. Once a member of Death Watch, Bo-Katan was the former regent of Mandalore and wielder of the Darksaber before the Empire’s purge and Moff Gideon who took the legendary blade for himself. Now that it’s in the hands of Din Djarin, it’s unclear how Bo-Katan views the titular Mandalorian despite their past as allies.

In a new promo for The Mandalorian season 3 released on the show’s official Twitter, Djarin’s journey to Mandalore takes the focus. Having removed his helmet at the end of The Mandalorian season 2, The Book of Boba Fett saw Mando receive instructions from the Armorer to return to the Mandalorian homeworld so that he might be forgiven for his transgressions. However, Bo-Katan Kryze will be on Mandalore, and it seems she has some bad news for Mando and Grogu once they arrive.

It certainly looks as though Bo-Katan isn’t too happy with Djarin, considering the state of her homeworld, and it’s likely due to a grudge regarding the Darksaber.

Will Bo-Katan Fight The Mandalorian?

Clearly distressed, Bo-Katan tells Djarin that there’s nothing left and to go home. While she could be talking about the overall devastation of Mandalore at the hands of the Empire and its genocide known as the Night of a Thousand Tears, she also could be referring specifically to the mines of Mandalore, the reason Djarin has come. Regardless, Bo-Katan definitely wants Mando off the planet immediately.

According to the Armorer, the only way for Djarin to be forgiven is to find the living waters which reside within the mines of Mandalore. As such, he’s not just going to leave with Grogu without at least searching for what he’s come for. Now, the question remains whether Bo-Katan will let him stay. Having inadvertently claimed the Darksaber after defeating Moff Gideon, Djarin left Bo-Katan unable to reclaim the one weapon that could have united the various clans without facing Mando in combat herself.

Keeping that in mind, the odds are strong that Bo-Katan may indeed challenge Djarin in the upcoming season if he doesn’t leave, allowing her to rightfully claim the Darksaber as she should have always done, rather than simply receiving from Sabine Wren as seen in Star Wars Rebels. At any rate, this new promo proves that there will be some strong tensions between Bo-Katan and Djarin as they work to restore what was lost.

The Mandalorian season 3 debuts on Wednesday, March 1 on Disney+.
