She-Hulk BTS Images Show How Twerking Scene Was Filmed

In a new post from @mcucomfort on Twitter, fans can get a behind-the-scenes look at how the twerking scene was filmed. The images show Maslany wearing a full motion-capture suit and dancing on a platform next to Megan Thee Stallion. The pictures also show that, while much of Walters’ office is a real set, a blue screen was used to create the exterior environment. Check out the behind-the-scenes images below:

Although Walters appears as a regular human for much of the show, she also spends a great deal of time as She-Hulk. The CGI for She-Hulk has been the topic of much debate online, but the new images show that Maslany’s physical performance is crucial reference material for the VFX artists. In addition to providing a reference for She-Hulk’s movement and body language, Maslany also has a small camera pointed at her face as part of the suit’s headpiece, meaning her facial expressions can also be captured and used in the creation of She-Hulk’s own expressions.

The twerking scene has been heavily criticized online, with many fans feeling like the moment is taken too far and is uncharacteristic of the MCU. Other fans, however, seem to be enjoying the sillier tone of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the show’s risk-taking. It’s unlikely She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will have any additional twerking scenes in future episodes, but, at the very least, the new behind-the-scenes images show just how integral Maslany is to the portrayal of She-Hulk and how much fun the actor seems to be having on set.
